The 2021 Harrison County 4-H/FFA Livestock Show
was held at Summit Park on August 28, 2021. 4-H and
FFA youth participated in a livestock skillathon, livestock
show, and showmanship competitions throughout the
morning.
The event began with the livestock skillathon. During
the skillathon, youth tested their knowledge about breeds,
animal identification, equipment, quality assurance, meats,
plants, and parts of the animal. Immediately following the
skillathon, our judge Daisy Bailey, provided a
showmanship workshop for youth involved in the show.
In the breeding rabbit division, Izzy Glassco exhibited
the champion buck and Hannah Glassco was awarded
reserve champion buck. Izzy was also champion rabbit
showman and Hannah was reserve champion.
Adalena McCray received champion honors with her
market goat and Jade McCray received reserve champion
market goat. Adalena was also champion market goat
showman and Jade received reserve champion.
The Champion Heifer was exhibited by Caleb Law and
Ashley Law exhibited the reserve champion heifer. In the
feeder steer division, Ashley received the nod for
champion feeder steer and Caleb Law was reserve
champion with his feeder steer. In senior beef
showmanship, Caleb Law was champion showman while
Ashley Law was reserve champion beef showman.
Once the show was completed, scores were tabulated for
the Premier Exhibitor Program, which takes scores from
the skillathon, animal placing, and showmanship. Premier
Exhibitor awards are as follows: Rabbit- Izzy Glassco,
Goat- Adalena McCray, Beef- Ashley Law.
