Thin Mints and Samoas and Tagalongs, Oh My! With Girl Scout cookie season in full swing, it’s the perfect time to showcase the tasty treats at the “Crafts and Cookies Show”, to be held at Village Square on March 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00p.m.
“This is our third event held at this location,” said organizer Amanda Gaughan, local business owner and Girl Scout volunteer. “With each event, we gain more vendors interested in supporting our troop. This event includes 80 vendors and a free meet and greet with the Easter Bunny, with photos available for an additional charge. We will also have a balloon artist and professional face painter on hand throughout the event.”
Funds from this Saturday’s event will allow local Girl Scouts to attend a Council Trip to New York City, Gettysburg, and Philadelphia. In addition to earning money, the girls will also be earning experience in the Girl Scouts five key business skills, including goal setting, decision-making, money management, people skills and business ethics. “It is a great opportunity to instill the love of entrepreneurship in these young girls. My daughter is already starting her own jewelry business with the skills she learned doing cookie sales,” said Gaughan.
The additional income from the “Crafts and Cookies Show” will be donated to the Harrison County Humane Society. “We allowed the girls to choose a charity that would benefit from the basket raffles and they unanimously voted to support the Humane Society. Several animals available for adoption will also be presented during the event,” said Gaughan.
Vendors include Silverwearables, Corks and Spoon, Impeccably Dressed, Lilla Rose, Tastefully Simple, Boyce Art Glass, Mary Kay, Elaine’s Handmade Crafts, and many more.
“This is the largest collection of craft vendors we have ever had at the show and we are so grateful for their participation in our fundraising efforts,” she concluded.
