BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — On Sunday, September 24, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) hosted an Academy Day event at Bridgeport High School in Bridgeport, W.Va. for West Virginia students interested in learning more about opportunities at the U.S. service academies and available Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships. During the event, various service academy admissions representatives and local ROTC scholarship program representatives were available to answer questions and members of Senator Capito’s staff provided information regarding her academy nomination application process.
“One of my most essential duties as a U.S. Senator is to nominate young West Virginians for admission to our nation’s prestigious service academies,” Senator Capito said. “It was great to meet with so many students and their families to discuss the academies and the opportunities they provide for a world-class education and the foundation for a great career. I am looking forward to reviewing their applications, nominating some of these amazing West Virginians, and seeing the kind of leaders they will become.”
