The holiday season is fast approaching. Please understand that I am not trying to skip over holidays to get to Christmas. I love this time of year starting with Veterans Day and the parade then moving on to Thanksgiving with all my favorites pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes and of course, turkey. Then followed up with Christmas. My favorite is spending time with my family and friends. I love the parties, the dinners, hearing the carols, going to church services and especially making and eating pita piata. I love giving little thoughtful gifts. And I especially love the decorations. Only you can get yourself In to the magic of the holidays. Do not blame anyone else if you are not a happy holiday person.
Now you are wondering what this crazy writer is doing with the picture of her and her dog. Well there has just about always been a dog attached to the Queen family. There was Chan, the Pekingese, and there was Missy, the Snauzer, and then there was Mister. When I lived alone, I did not have a dog. I was lonely and felt something was missing. My family said to adjust “no more men or dogs,”. I tried to live their way and was quite happy until age started taking its toll on my body. That’s when I realized I had to make some adjustments for my health and well being. Without much support, I moved in with my son Marty and am very happy living back in East View.
Well now,you say “ come on lady what is the rest of the story ?” Well here it is. When I moved in I got a son and his dog, Max. I have heard so many stories about therapy dogs and although I did not advocate for them, I did not oppose them. Well, I have learned the truth to this action and I am here to tell you that therapy dogs are great.
I made Max my dog. Oh he still belongs to Marty but he enjoys the best of both worlds and supplies me with something that has been missing with age. He is so happy to see me when I come home. He will divide his time by sleeping with the two of us. He will sit quietly on my lap while I read or watch television. When I talk softly to him he will give me a kiss. He licks away the tears. I talk to him frequently and the crazy in me says he answers me. He knows when I am going out and looks so sad, but he is so happy when I return. Now here is my opinion, he makes my life much better and all you lonely people out there should consider getting a pet. Just think about it. He especially loves the holidays because he senses I am happy. And that makes him happy.
Get happy to enjoy the holidays and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
