This Christmas season, expect to see the Shinnston Community Band in two classic venues to share holiday joy through the sounds of music.
More than 70 individuals come together to create a musical experience rarely seen anymore in West Virginia outside of high school and college music departments. Anyone can bring their talent and commitment to join the group, from young to old, and from amateur to professional.
The band will first perform on December 2 after the end of the Christmas parade at 7:30 PM. Having the community band perform after the parade is a Shinnston city tradition.
Performers from across the region participate in the band in ages ranging from 18 to 83. Some entire families join and play together, many taking advantage of an opportunity to build their skills, others just having fun playing music.
On December 10 at 3 PM, with a ticket price of only $8.00, the Shinnston Community Band will play its annual show at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg. The Brass Rhythm and Sax Orchestra will also be on hand to play holiday favorites.
The Shinnston Community Band is proudly supported by the Cultural Foundation of Harrison County
