High winds, snowstorm after snowstorm, and frigid temperatures last week announced the settling in of the season of winter.
The accumulation of office filings at the Harrison County Clerk’s office have also signaled the commencement of the political season. Candidates have the option of filing at the county clerk’s office. The listings below do not include the town of residence for some candidates because their mailing address was not included.
Two have filed, to run for county commission. Patsy Trecost II of Shinnston is running, as well as Ron Watson of Mount Clare.
Rachel Romano has filed to run for Harrison County prosecuting attorney.
So far, four have filed to run for Harrison County Sheriff. These include Steve Johnson of Clarksburg, Chris D. Minor, Dixon G. Pruitt, and Don Quinn of Bridgeport.
Rocky Romano filed to run for county assessor.
Five have filed to run for magistrate judge, including Warren E. “Gizzy” Davis in Division Three, Frank Anthony Demarco of Division One, Kevin Renzelli of Division Four, Michael “Mike” Weiss of Division Two, and Kimberly Wygall from Division Five.
In the Board of Education race, Douglas K. Hogue and Tobey Knight have filed.
The final day to file to run for office for 2024 is Jan 27. Information on candidates in Harrison County or across the state may be accessed at the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office website.
