Last week, Governor Jim Justice announced winners in the Almost Heaven Governor’s Art Edition.
According to a release from the Office of the Governor, the contest was “designed to showcase student creativity and the arts.” The theme for the contest centered on “one-of-a-kind postcard designs illustrating stargazing at your favorite West Virginia park or public lands.”
Governor Jim Justice announced the contest and theme last October. He invited state students from kindergarten to 12th grade to participate. Awards went to those who placed first, second, and third with art supplies as prizes.
In the middle school division, Raley Cochran earned second place with “Stargazing at Lindy Point”
Ashton Bailey took third place with “The Night Look of Seneca Rocks.”
