Gayle A. Davis, 86, of Wallace, passed away on December 25, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 11, 1938, in Shinnston, a son to the late Harold W. Davis and Ethel Grace Lanham. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his in-laws Audie R. Swiger and Juanita L. (Chrislip) Swiger; grandson Shane K. Davis; brother Marvin Davis; sisters Eileen (Davis) Wagner, Irma (Davis) Dotson; brothers-in-law Bradley Swiger, Bobby Harbert, and Robert Dotson; sisters-in-law Beverly Swiger, Raetta Maxine (Swiger) Bates, Sandra (Swiger) Casten; and nephew by marriage Tracy Todd Bates.

He is survived by his wife of over 67 years, LuLu L. Davis. He is also survived by his children, sons Keith L. Davis (Donna) of Lumberport, Monty R. Davis (Cindy) of Wallace, John K. Davis of Wallace; daughter Twila Eddy (Marvin) of Wallace; grandchildren Brian Davis of Clarksburg, Kevin Davis (Kaitie), Monica Davis, Brandon Davis of Wallace, Crystal Murphy of Wallace, and Danielle Carpenter (Frank) of Wallace; great-grandchildren Hunter, Randon, Millee, Grady, Clay, Hailey, Donovan, and Katelynn;  two great-great-grandchildren; and brothers-in-law Mike A. Swiger (Edna), Charles (Tex) Bates, and John Casten.

Gayle is a retired coal miner. He worked for Mike Fresa Coal Mines from 1957-1985, where he went into the mines and saved Ed Longwell during a mine collapse, and received a medal and plaque in his honor. He then went on and worked at Robinson Run Mines from 1985-2002. He was Baptist by faith, and enjoyed working in his garage, and helping family, friends, and neighbors. Gayle was always willing to help and rescue people.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 10:00AM-12:00PM. A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM with Pastor Jeff Perine officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
