Thomas Joseph Cappiello

Thomas Joseph Cappiello, 76, of Mannington, formerly of Lumberport, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 6, 2025 at his residence.  He was born in Lumberport on June 14, 1948 to the late John and Rosa (Nicollette) Cappiello.

Thomas dedicated his life to the military, enlisting in the USMC.  He proudly served for approximately ten years, completing two tours in Vietnam.  A true patriot, his courage and devotion to his country were unparalleled.

Beyond his military service, Thomas was a man of deep love and joy.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished fishing, travelling, and spending time with his family.  His unconditional love for his loved ones left a lasting legacy that will be treasured forever.

Thomas is preceded in death by his brothers:  James, Bennie and Jerry Cappiello; and his sisters:  Kathryn Rose Cappiello, Josephine Cappiello, Alveda Cappiello, Helen Mae Davis, Rosalie Keener, Diane Gibbs and Mary Julia Cottrill.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Dianna (Linville) Cappiello; his brother, John Cappiello; two daughters:   Jackie (Cappiello) Swisher and Tracy Slaughter; grandchildren:  Tyler Cappiello, Mickey (Apryl) Swisher, Mickaylea (Justin) Swisher, Savannah (Jerry) Marine, Zach Blevins, Bryar Blevins, Dezeray Collins, Shaylah Slaughter, Michael Sidney, Anthony Pelkey, Landon Blankenship and Carly Blankenship; great grandchildren whom were his real favorites:  Remington, Kinlyn, Emzlea, Maylea, Ruger, Jenson, Emerson, Oakley, Everlea, Atalea, Thea, Cambree, Mavrick, Sebastian, Oliver, Kayson and Barret as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston to assist with funeral costs.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible medical staff who cared for Thomas during his illness.  Your compassion and dedication were a true blessing and we will forever be grateful

Thomas’ life was one filled with service, love and laughter.  His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.  He will forever be missed but never forgotten.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm.  Funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:00am with Pastor Delores White officiating.  Interment to Shinnston Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by USMC and Harrison County Honor Guard.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Cappiello family.
