Tyler Patrick Benson, 40, of Clarksburg, passed away on February 5, 2025 at United Hospital Center.  He was born in Morgantown on November 9, 1984 to Barry Benson and the late Kelly (Loretta) Benson.

Tyler graduated from Lincoln High School in 2002 and married his teenage sweetheart, Sarah, in 2007.  He supported his family by working in the restaurant industry for over 20 years and had found a new career opportunity at a window manufacturing facility until he was no longer able to work.

Tyler was an avid collector of Ken Griffey, Jr. baseball cards, had a love for guns, knives, flashlights, pens, backpacks and all things tactical everyday carry gear.  His passion for family and friends reflected in his kind and loving nature and will remain as a legacy in the happy memories of those who knew him.

Tyler spent much of his time making jokes and lightening the situation for those around him and his infectious smile left a lasting memory on everyone he met.

Tyler is survived by his wife, Sarah (Mayne) Benson and their dog “Flash” who was his entire world.  His love for them was unmatched and unwavering.  As well as his father, Barry Benson and wife Betsy; three sisters:  Maryssa Benson, Ashley Benson and Karina Faber; one brother, Cody Benson; grandmother, Nancy Loretta; great aunt, Joann Parsons; special nephews who he had a hand in raising and meant so much to him:  David, Charles and Nikolai Stemple as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Tyler is preceded in death by grandfathers:  Robert Loretta and Joe Benson; grandmother, Patsy Benson and brother in law, Dewayne Mayne.

In lieu of flowers donations can made to his Funeral Care Fund online.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 11:00am until 2:00pm, time of service, with Pastor Brian Stuttler officiating.

In keeping with Tyler’s wishes, he will be cremated.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Benson family.
