It’s that time once again to acknowledge the efforts of Harrison County’s student-athletes. Each week we review the performances of the athletes from the six schools (Bridgeport, Liberty, Lincoln, Notre Dame, Robert C. Byrd, and South Harrison) in our county. The Shinnston News & Harrison County Journal’s Athlete of the Week award is an avenue to promote the youth of our county while bringing attention to their athletic accomplishments.

The Harrison County athletes in the spotlight this week are Selena wilson of Notre Dame and Bridgeport’s Phoenix sickles
Fighting Irish basketball player Selena Wilson helped her team to a win over Magnolia with a 25 point, 18 rebound effort. The victory advanced her team to the state tournament.
Indian basketball player Phoenix Sickles helped his team to a win over Berkeley Springs this past week. Sickles claimed a double double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
