Randall Barnes, 96, of Shinnston passed away on March 8, 2025. He was born on January 23, 1929 to the late Arthur A. Barnes and Anna Davis Barnes Winter. Randall was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth I. “Betty” Shreves Barnes, his son Randy Lee Barnes and his brother Ronald Barnes.

Randall had fond memories of his time attending Saltwell School, working on the family farm at Shinns Run and riding his horse to the movie theater in Shinnston when he was growing up. Randall joined the military at the age of 16 serving in the Navy SeaBees Construction Battalion. He often talked about being on the Kwajalein Island working as a crane operator.

After his military service Randall worked in sales in North Carolina and South Carolina. He retired from Rish Equipment Company in Bridgeport after 33 years working as a mechanic and painter.

After retirement Randall Volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in Clarksburg for many years.

Randall enjoyed listening to country music, collecting wrenches and taking road trips in the mountains with his friends. It was very important to Randall to have an American flag flying from his porch or in his yard.

In lieu of flowers please display an American flag in memory of Randall.

The excellent care given to Randall over the past 14 months at St Barbara’s Memorial Nursing home in Monongah is greatly Appreciated.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00 and a Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Steve Roy officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.

A service of Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston.
