Sara Sue Hammond

Sara Sue Hammond, 67, of Shinnston, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at United Hospital Center surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 11, 1958 in Fairmont, WV to the late William Benton Hammond and Pricilla Carolyn Jones Hammond.

Sara’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she loved very much. She enjoyed horseback riding, dirt track races, the beach, NASCAR, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Sara is survived by her three children: Tonya Renee Marra and husband Brian Marra of Shinnston, Robert Allen White and wife Sarah White of Monongah, and Keri Sue White of Shinnston; grandchildren: Alexis Rose White and Companion Tony Todd of Shinnston, Cameron L Parrish and companion Tyra McDowell of Morgantown, Robert Allen White II and companion Krista Stevens of Idamay, Chase Alexander White of Shinnston, Miley K Yoho of Shinnston, Nicole White of Four States, WV and Kaiden Dale White of Monongah; great-grandchildren: Iris Aleine White of Idamay, WV and Silas Dewane Todd who is on the way of Shinnston; siblings, Barbara Heater and husband Paul Heater of Four States, WV, Tammy Boone of Four States, WV, Kelly Cain of Clarksburg, William Hammond of Four States, WV, Danny Hammond and wife Dawn Hammond of Mannington, and Todd Hammond of Shinnston; also surviving is her former husband and loving life long companion, Robert D White of Shinnston.

In addition to her parents, Sara is preceded in death by her brother, Frederick Hammond; brother-in-law, Dan Boone; sister-in-law, Pamela Hammond.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Hammond family.
