It’s that time once again to acknowledge the efforts of Harrison County’s student athletes. Each week we will take a look back at the performances of the girls and boys from the six high schools (Bridgeport, Liberty, Lincoln, Notre Dame, Robert C. Byrd, and South Harrison) in our county. The Shinnston News & Harrison County Journal Athletes of the Week is an avenue that is used to promote the youth of our county while bringing attention to their athletic accomplishments.
This past week’s winners are Robert C. Byrd’s Lavania LeMasters and Ben D’Annunzio.
Flying Eagle Cross Country runner, Lavania LeMasters continued her stellar sophomore season with a win at the Highlands Invitational in Webster Springs this past Saturday. LeMasters recorded a time of 22:18:18 in the win.
Flying Eagle football standout Ben D’Annunzio rushed for 255 yards on 20 carries in Friday’s win over Grafton. D’Annunzio also scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 11 and 51 yards respectively. His effort was just 9 yards away from tying the school record for most yards in a single game.
Congratulations to Robert C. Byrd’s Lavania LeMasters and Ben D’Annunzio for being named the Shinnston News & Harrison County Journal’s Athletes of the Week.
