Gassaway, WV – Oct. 1, 2025 – Mountaineer Food Bank is proud to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from  the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help fight hunger in West Virginia.

The grant will directly support the organization’s mission by supporting feeding programs that provide nutritious food to children and their families  experiencing food insecurity.

With this generous funding, we will be able to further our efforts in providing nutritious meals to the 1 in 5 West Virginia children and their families facing hunger. Last year Mountaineer food bank was able to provide over 338,000 meals through our Summer Feeding and Extra Mile programs.

“Support from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation makes a real difference for our neighbors,” said Chad Morrison, Mountaineer Food Bank CEO. “This grant will help us strengthen our capacity to meet the increasing demand for food assistance in communities we serve.”

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to nourishing neighbors and eliminating hunger. Everyone deserves fair access to the food and resources they say they desire and need to thrive, regardless of background,  demographics, location and/or disability. To make this a reality, we listen to and learn from everyone facing hunger, focusing on people most impacted to address the greatest challenges together.
