CHARLESTON, W.Va. – State Treasurer Larry Pack today announced the winning bid amount from the September online firearms auction was $130,100 placed from a federal firearm licensed dealer in West Virginia. This is the first winner from West Virginia to participate in the Office’s online firearms auction which ran from September 15-29.

More than 25 bids were submitted from licensed dealers spanning across nine states. There were 584 firearms that came from 20 different law enforcement agencies that were up for bid.

“These dollars will go back into law enforcement agencies so they can make improvements to their operations, buy new equipment, and train their officers,” Treasurer Pack said. “My Office will continue to hold these online auctions to help modernize our Unclaimed Property Program and to extend the market value of sales by securing buying power from dealers across multiple states.”

The following law enforcement agencies turned over firearms for September’s auction:

  • Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office
  • Charles Town Police Department
  • Clarksburg Police Department
  • Clay Police Department
