Plan adds new counties, wellness program, and enhanced benefits

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – As Medicare’s 2026 open enrollment period begins, Peak Health, the WVU Health System’s integrated health insurance company, is expanding its Peak Advantage Medicare plan for 2026. The plan will expand its coverage area to include several counties across two states and introduce new benefits focused on wellness and preventive care.

“This is the third year of Peak Advantage, and we’re proud to say it’s the fastest-growing Medicare Advantage plan in the state,” Missy Bazzo, director of Medicare for Peak Health, said. “We are the only health plan created by the doctors trusted here in West Virginia. Our goal is to cut through the red tape and make sure members get the care they need close to home.”

Peak Advantage, launched in 2023, was created by WVU Medicine, Marshall Health, and Valley Health in Winchester, Virginia, to provide West Virginians with high-quality, locally managed coverage connected to the health systems and physicians they already know and trust.

In 2026, the plan will expand into 20 additional West Virginia counties and two in Pennsylvania, bringing Peak Advantage coverage to nearly all of West Virginia. New benefits will include the Aging Well Program, an interactive wellness and safety initiative developed in partnership with WVU.

“This program offers classes on fitness, wellness, and even scam prevention,” Bazzo said. “It’s all about helping our members stay safe and healthy every day.”

Other key enhancements include a $0 prescription deductible, increased Flex Card value ($365 annually), and continued $0 premiums for Vista PPO and $16 for Summit PPO, with both plans maintaining no-cost primary care visits and expanded dental, vision, and hearing benefits.

Bazzo discussed the 2026 Peak Advantage expansion, new member benefits, and how to enroll in a recent episode of the Live Healthy West Virginia podcast, Understanding Your Medicare Advantage Options with Peak Health.
