It’s that time once again to acknowledge the efforts of Harrison County’s student-athletes. Each week we review the performances of the athletes from the six schools (Bridgeport, Liberty, Lincoln, Notre Dame, Robert C. Byrd, and South Harrison) in our county.
The Shinnston News & Harrison County Journal’s Athlete of the Week award is an avenue to promote the youth of our county while bringing attention to their athletic accomplishments.
The Harrison County athletes in the spotlight this week are Lincoln’s Brystol Toth and Bridgeport’s Aryon Dodd.
Recently, Cougar basketball standout Brystol Toth helped her squad to back-to-back wins over Braxton County and Hedgesville, scoring a double-double in the process. Toth scored 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds against the Eagles and scored 18 points and hauled in 11 caroms versus the other Eagles (Hedgesville) to average 23 points and 10 boards.
Indian hoopster Aryon Dodd helped his squad to an impressive win over University. Didd had 19 points, including five three-pointers, in the victory.
Congratulations to Brystol Toth and Aryon Dodd for shining bright in the SN and HCJ spotlight.
