Patricia Carol Bell

Patricia Carol Bell, 86, of Shinnston, passed away on January 3, 2026 at United Hospital Center. Mrs. Bell was born July 6, 1939 in Shinnston. She was the daughter of the late Scott and Edith (Leiving) Mackey of Shinnston.

Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jennings Paul Bell and two sons, Paul Martin Bell and Brian Lee Bell, one daughter, Brenda Lou Bell, one grandson, Derek D. Johnston and her parents, Scott and Edith Mackey, and five brothers, Melvin Scott Mackey, Thomas Dale Mackey, Edgar Gale Mackey, Paul Raymond Mackey and Michael Mackey and one sister, Loretta Mae Hall, also her companion, Frederick D. Hennigin, who passed away in October 2021.

She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Leah Johnston of North Carolina, nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Charles D. Mackey of Warren, OH, Dennis Mackey of Shinnston and John R. Mackey of Shinnston and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her granddaughter, Heather D. Hastings and daughter Kristen L. Bowers for being her caretaker.

Mrs. Bell was Methodist by faith. She attended schools in Shinnston and Parkersburg, WV. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She married Jennings Paul Bell October 27, 1956. She attended community college in Parkersburg, WV and took nurses aid training and later EMT training. She graduated from Camden Clark Memorial Hospital one-time LPN course in 1988. She worked at several nursing homes in Parkersburg and 17 years for Camden Clark, first as nursing assistant and later as LPN. She retired from Camden Clark when her husband passed away, and moved back to Shinnston in 1993 where she retired from Louis A. Johnson Medical Center after eight years’ service for the Government as LPN.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston for visitation on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00AM with Pastor Tim Sandy officiating. Interment will follow to Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.

Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Bell family.
