Brenda Kay Stockert, 60, of Wallace, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at United Hospital Center following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 2, 1965 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Lucille Leggett Matheny.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Jon Stockert, whom she married on April 24, 1982. She is also survived by her children, Jessica Stockert of Wallace; and Jon Stockert and his companion Christin Simmons of Wallace; her grandchildren, Mariah Stockert of Wallace; Dylan Edwards and his companion Kiana Grogg of Clarksburg; and Drew Simmons of Wallace; and the apple of her eye, her great-grandson, Devon Edwards; as well as her sister, Carol Greaver of Clarksburg; her brother, Jim Matheny and his wife Sharon of Mill Creek; and her brother-in-law, Danny Wright of Lost Creek.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Wright; and her brother-in-law, John Greaver.

Brenda loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson. She attended the Wallce Baptist Church. Brenda was employed for many years as a cashier at Walmart and more recently at Home Depot.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at United Hospital Center’s 7th Floor North.

Friends will be received at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St. Shinnston, on Thursday from 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 9th, at 11:00am with Pastor Keith Swiger officiating. Interment will follow at the Wallace Lions Club Cemetery.
