Rebecca Sue Davis (Susie), 73, of Shinnston passed away at her home on Thursday, April 16, 2026 surrounded by her family and under the caring team of Amedysis Hospice. She was born in Clarksburg, WV on January 5, 1953, a daughter of the late Watson Ford and Maxine Rebecca Auvil. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Ford and close friends, Linda Livingston Davis and Janice Petrigac.

She is survived by her daughter; Melissa Basnett and fiancé Jeremy Fitzwater, grandchildren; Kaitlin Basnett and partner Zac and Gracie McDaniel and partner Jason, great grandson; Samuel Wilson, brother Fredrick Ford (Jan), cousins; Libby Courtney, Mary Elizabeth Hall and Fred Ford, friends; Tonia and Shawn Ash, Chad and Coby Riggenberg, Joshua Todd, and Phillip and Sally Basnett.

Rebecca was a retired biller and coder with United Hospital Center. She attended the Shinnston First Baptist Church and Jewel City Church. In her spare time, Rebecca was an avid reader who spent time studying scripture, stargazing, gardening, practicing calligraphy, spending time with her family and pets, and playing Sudoku and billiards. She will be remembered for the way she stood beside others through every chapter of life. In both the brightest celebrations and the most difficult days, she offered a kind of support that was gentle, genuine, and constant. She had a gift for making people feel seen and understood, never hesitating to give her time, her care, or her strength when it was needed. Her presence brought comfort, her words brought reassurance, and her actions spoke of a deep and abiding compassion. The impact of that steady devotion will live on in the countless lives she touched, a lasting reminder of what it means to truly be there for one another.

Friends and family will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Josh Fitzwater officiating. Interment at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery to follow.
