The Board of Directors of the Progressive Women’s Association has announced that it will be presenting a special program to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. On Friday, June 26 a luncheon will be held at the Uptown Event Center to kickoff the celebration. The celebration will invite citizens to have a renewed love of American history. Over 250 years ago, our fathers beat off the greatest Army in the world.
Now we celebrate 250 years of our military’s valor, strength and discipline.we want to call attention to the part women have and do now play in our military. Today there are 227,000 women in the military, approximately 18% of total active duty individuals. In no small part we come to honor women in our area who served and who now allow today’s military women to stand strong and thanks to them for paving the way.
The luncheon will contain an ALL AMERICAN MENU AND WILL CLOSE WITH A BIRTHDAY CAKE. SPECIAL PATRIOTIC MUSIC WILL BE presented during lunch. Due to limited seating, it is requested that reservations be made.
The women who will be honored are. Nancy Price Valentine, United States Army, 2002 to 2007. Sherri Rasavier, United States Air Force, 1976 to 1987. Carol Saunders, United States Air Force and National Guard, 1987 to 1996. Maria Saunders, United States Army, 2008 to 2023. Carol Thorpe, United States Air Force, 1983 to 2016.
