On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the North Central Walk to End Alzheimer’s took place at Meadowbrook Mall, Bridgeport, W.Va.. Prior to the opening ceremonies, HCSC Line Dancers (pictured) joined by Mountaineer Challenge Academy volunteers and walkers, performed two songs. Debbie Gaston led two songs for the Drums Alive demonstration.
Both groups encourage staying active for brain health. Barbara Coberly (pictured) shared her personal story about her daughter “Vonnie” who recently passed away at age 56 from Alzheimer’s. Walkers (pictured), led by the Fairmont State University Drumline and Band members, raised donations for research for the cure. Donations are still being accepted through December 31, 2026 for this year’s walk.
