Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Harrison County 4-H Center on Rt. 19 south (across from the Clarksburg Country Club) the 30th Annual FREE PALS  (Preschool Assessment of Local Students) Screening will be held.

This screening is the collective efforts of Harrison County Schools and other local agencies committed to serving children.  These agencies include: Harrison Co. Bd. Of Education, Central West Virginia Head Start, West Virginia Birth to Three, Harrison County Parent/Educator Resource Center, and others.

The purpose is to provide a collaborative effort in serving families whose children are birth to 4 years of age.  Families are assisted in locating and utilizing the available services offered through this networking of agencies and community organizations and who as a group are more informed of each other’s programs and therefore, are better able to allocate their resources more efficiently.

This FREE screening is used to identify areas of concern in preschool age children birth to 4 years old (This screening does not replace the Kindergarten Screening that all Kindergarten age children must attend).  Many times parents don’t know what to do if they suspect a problem or who to call.  PALS provides  “one stop shopping” where their child’s vision, hearing, developmental, dental, speech/language, can be checked, FREE.

All of the agencies listed above, local dentists, sheriff’s deputies, and others all come together to volunteer for this annual screening and it is available to all Harrison County families of preschool age children who are not already registered in Head Start, Birth to Three, etc.
