Lincoln High School as announced that the March Senior Students of the Month are Deanna Smith and Zachary Dunn.
Deanna Elizabeth Smith, is the daughter of Sharon Smith and James Smith of Lumberport. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Joanna Cottrill Carol and the late William Smith, Sr.
While at Lincoln High School, Deanna has been on the perfect honor roll and is ranked 13th in her class. Deanna was inducted into the National Honor Society during her junior year of high school. She has received numerous Top Scholar Awards in Math II, Naval Science 2, and NJROTC.
Deanna is a four year member of the Lincoln High School Navy Junior Reverse Officer Training Corps program where she has excelled. She was awarded the Stephen Decatur Cadet of the Year Award, named to the Reverse Officer Association, presented the Scottish Rite Award, attended the Leadership Academy, and is the Commanding Officer this year.
Deanna is also a member of the Harrison County Lacrosse Team and a member of the Ball Room Dancing Club. Deanna was instrumental in the planning and organizing of the American Red Cross Blood drive held at Lincoln by both the NJROTC and the National Honor Society. She enjoys lacrosse, NJROTC, reading, and spending time with her family.
Her future plans are to attend Fairmont State University to major in mechanical engineering.
Zachary Scott Dunlop is the son of Don and Tracy Dunlop of Fairmont. He is the grandson of Marion and Charlotte Bice.
While at Lincoln, Zachary has carried a perfect 4.0 GPA and has been on the perfect honor roll each six weeks. During his junior year he was inducted into the National Honor Society. Zachary has been named a Top Scholar for perfect honor roll every year. He is a PROMISE scholar with a 27 composite on his ACT.
Zachary is a four year member of the Lincoln High School marching band, ping pong club, and a member of the tennis team. He also spends many hours as a Junior Volunteer at the United Hospital Center. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and fishing.
His future plans are to attend West Virginia University and major in biology for pre-med; after that he plans to enter medical school to become a physician.
