INA JEAN CARPENTER

na Jean Carpenter, 81, of Enterprise passed away on May 18, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones at Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on October 4, 1935 in Harrison County to the late Charles Carl and Iva Vincent Carpenter.
Ina is survived by her sister, Mary Rose Carpenter of Enterprise; brother, David Carpenter and his wife Betty of Clarksburg; aunt, Betty Vincent of Enterprise; nephews, Leslie David Carpenter of Clarksburg; Jeff Carpenter of Arizona; Steve Carpenter of Arizona; Scott Carpenter of Texas; niece, Christa Reed of Kentucky; cousins, Carla White and her husband Bill of Michigan; Sue Suppa of Texas; and several more cousins.
In addition to her parents, Ina was preceded by her sister, Betty Irene Carpenter; brothers, Donald Lee Carpenter; Charles Carpenter; sisters-in-law, Betty J. Carpenter; and Doris Carpenter.
Ina was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peora. She enjoyed talking to her friends on the phone. Ina was a member of the Peora Farm Women’s Club “CEOS”. Ina loved crocheting and going out to eat. She had 43 years of service with the James & Law Company.
A funeral service was held at 11 AM on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Harry “Buzzy” Holbert officiating. Interment followed at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. Online memories and condolences maybe shared at www.harmerfuneralhome.com

GLORIA JEAN MILLER
Gloria Jean Miller, 68, of Flemington, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Clarksburg Feb. 18, 1949, a daughter of the late Philip T. and Flora V. (Isabella) Richardson.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Eddie “Butch” Miller and one son, Carl H. Pinnell II, both of Flemington.
Gloria graduated from Flemington High School, class of 1967, and after a brief move to Texas returned home to West Virginia. She attended Salem University and Fairmont State College and held various jobs over the years, including working in the coal mines as a roof bolter and then scale operator. Later she worked for the U.S. Census Bureau and then became the office manager for a housing complex, where she eventually retired from. Gloria was an avid reader and also enjoyed writing poetry and short stories. Her hobbies included crafts of all sorts, cooking and baking for her family and friends.
Along with her husband Butch, she enjoyed visits to the Flemington Senior Citizens Center and going to the annual Flemington Days Fair and Festival, where they were also past King and Queen. Her smile and kind words will always be remembered by her family and many friends.
RUBY NORENE NEWBROUGH
Ruby Norene Newbrough, 79, of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Fairmont Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 3, 1937, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Emmett Baker and Armenia Swiger Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Newbrough.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen Hartley and husband, Gary, of Bridgeport and Joy Wolford and husband, Rick, of Rosemont; grandchildren, Stacy Freeman and wife, Joanie, of Lumberport, Sara Hartley Mike and husband, Jason, of Bridgeport and Adam Hartley of Bridgeport; great-grandchildren, Austin, Gauge and Isaiah Freeman, Lilly and Addison Mike, all from Bridgeport; her brother, Gene Baker of Philippi; and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her brother, Doyle Baker, and her sister, Verma Zitella.
Mrs. Newbrough was a member of Pleasant Avenue Church of Christ in Shinnston and was a member of T.O.P.S. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being with her family and furbabies.
LELA FURROLD ODOM
Lela Furrold Odom, 58, of Anmoore, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born in Cleveland, OH, March 12, 1959, a daughter of the late Hansel Queen and Mary Henning Long and her stepfather Rodney Long, who survive in Stonewood.
She was married to Michael Weaver Odom, who preceded her in death July 12, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Odom of Anmoore and Ronald Odom of Clarksburg; one daughter, Mary Odom of Anmoore; 13 grandchildren, Taylor Lambert, Alex Odom, Catherine Odom, Colin Odom, Lyra Odom, Noel Odom, Lela Odom, Roland Odom Jr., Roger Odom, Rodney Goff, Christa McGary, Kiley McGary and Chase McGary; one great-grandchild; five sisters, Kathy Benkalowycz and husband, Roman, of Grafton, OH, Cheryl Swiger of Parma, OH, Christa Burrows of Lost Creek, Michelle Queen and companion, Ernie Claypool, of Stonewood, and Pamela Bailey of Stonewood; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and her companion, Johnny Hayhurst.
Lela worked at the United Summit Center for Skills Division, working with the mentally challenged for 12 years. She loved her grandkids and spending time with them, and she enjoyed camping and fishing. She also enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for family and friends.
MARK E. LABENNE II
Mark E. LaBenne II, 35, of Clarksburg, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, in the United Hospital Center.
He was born in Clarksburg Feb. 25, 1982, a son of Mark Edward LaBenne and wife, Wanda LaBenne, and Armenda Reed LaBenne and her companion, Buck Jenkins.
In addition to his parents and stepparents, he is also survived by six sisters, Kada Wiseman of Clarksburg, Michelle Rowan and companion, Robin Gaston, of Clarksburg, Katie Heckman and husband, Troy, of PA, Deedra Burns and husband, Jerry, of Weston, Karey Boggs and husband. Justin. of Weston, Page Reyer of Salem; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and several nieces and nephews, including his nephew, Bentley, whom he dearly loved and who referred to Mark as a Superhero.
Mark attended Adamston Grade School and attended Spina Bifida Camp in Ripley, Gore Middle School, and he graduated from Robert C. Byrd High School, class of 2002. He loved music, cooking, fishing, movies and NASCAR. He attended Bridgeport United Methodist Church with his father.
JODY EDWARD WATSON
Jody Edward Watson, 56, of Clarksburg, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 9, 1961, in Clarksburg, the son of the late Robert M. Watson, Sr. and Lois J. (Pyles) Watson.
Jody is survived by his nine children that include two daughters, Britney Watson and Ericka Watson, at home; two sons, Brandon Watson and Eric Watson, at home; four brothers, Tim Watson and wife, Kim, of Clarksburg, Bruce Watson and fiancé, Becky, of Clarksburg, James Watson and wife, Jennifer, of Clarksburg, and Jeff Watson and wife, Lori, of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Mary Louise Livingston of Clarksburg; several half brothers, half sisters, nephew, nieces and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Jody was preceded in death by a brother, Robert M. Watson II.
ROSE MARIE YOUNG
Rose Marie Young, age 78, of Clarksburg, W.Va., passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, at United Hospital Center, surrounded by her family.
She was born August 25, 1938, in Cumberland, MD, the daughter of the late Hubert Hershberger and Aretta (Wetzel) Hershberger.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Marla A. Young (Jimmy) of Fairmont; a son, Mark A. Young (Joyce) of Clarksburg; two brothers, Fred Smith of Clarksburg, John Hershberger of Cumberland, MD; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Young, who died on April 27, 1999; two brothers, James Hershberger and Hubert Hershberger; four sisters, Mable Jenkins, Mary Judy, Eleanor Menendez and Sylvia Summerfield.
Rose graduated in 1957 from Notre Dame High school. After high school, she attended WV Business College. She worked for the Elks Club, PJ Kelly’s and City Window. She was a member of the United Methodist Temple and VFW Post 573. Rose loved to crochet and garden.
DANIEL K. MORRISON
Daniel K. Morrison, 68, of Clarksburg passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, at his home.
He was born on November 30, 1948, in Montgomery, a son of the late Arden Lawrence Morrison and Ressie Siers Morrison.
Daniel is survived by his son, Dr. Kristian Morrison and his wife, Dr. Ruthanne Watkins, of Bridgeport, and their children, Christopher, Abby, Isabella, Lydia and Daphne Morrison; his three brothers, David Morrison and his wife, Kathy, Douglas Morrison and his wife, Winda, Dewey Morrison and his wife, Bobbie; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Delmas “ Doc” Morrison.
Daniel was a retired aircraft mechanic with over 40 years of service. Daniel was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. Daniel was a very devoted Christian and enjoyed singing in his church choir.
DENZIL RAY SKIDMORE SR.
Denzil Ray Skidmore, Sr., age 86, of Nutter Fort, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017, at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1930, in Barbour Co., West Virginia, the son of the late Floyd Samuel Skidmore and Delphia (Loar) Skidmore.
Denzil is survived by his daughter, Connie E. Bocco of Nutter Fort, West Virginia; two sons, Richard Skidmore and his wife Yvonne of Clarksburg, West Virginia and Denzil Skidmore, Jr. of Nutter Fort; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Denzil was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Marie (Henning) Skidmore, who died on August 23, 1981; three sons, Mark Wayne Skidmore, James Roland Skidmore and Timothy Skidmore; a daughter-in-law, Connie Skidmore; two brothers, Hansel Skidmore and William Skidmore; two sisters, Ruth Bolyard and Goldie Lowther.
Denzil retired from Watters Smith Memorial State Park as the assistant supervisor. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Stonewood, West Virginia.
RHONDA LEE CUNNINGHAM
Rhonda Lee Cunningham, age 53, of Indianapolis, IN, formally of Clarksburg, passed away on Thursday April 6, 2017, at the Indiana University Methodist Hospital.
She was born August 1, 1963, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of the late Joseph William Cunningham and Selby Jean (Shaffer) Cunningham.
Rhonda is survived by her two brothers, Michael Cunningham and Charles William Sisk Cunningham, both of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Brenda Sapp of Greencastle, IN, and Misty Brady Cunningham of Clarksburg, W.Va.; three nieces, Telisha Van Atta of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Jean Smith of Clarksburg, Amanda Smith of Clarksburg; a nephew, Chris O. Bradaigh of Clarksburg, W.Va.; an uncle, Homer Shaffer of Indianapolis, IN; and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, Rhonda was preceded in death by two sisters, Patty Jean Sisk and Helen Smith; two brothers, Charles Cunningham and Joseph Cunningham; a nephew, Ronald Van Atta.
MICHAEL M. ZIMNISKI JR.
Michael M. Zimniski, Jr. (aka Zim), 73, of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
He was born in 1943 in Kanawha City, Charleston. The son of Michael M. Zimniski and Anna S. Zimniski, he is survived by his loving and intelligent wife of 51 years Suezann, and his sisters, Chris of New York and Toni of Ohio.
He grew up in Kanawha City and attended St. Agnes Grade School and Charleston Catholic High School. He was an altar boy, a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Explorer Scout and was awarded the Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow and Catholic Scouting medals. He graduated from Marshall University with an engineering degree and spent a year post-graduate at WVU. He was a professional engineer registered by examination in the fields of civil, mechanical, and sanitary engineering. He was also a registered surveyor and a National Registered (by exam) Environmental Engineer. He began his career with UCC, CPD and was the assistant chief engineer. He was also employed by Mason Glass as an assistant plant manager, and later with Alcan Rolled Products Division as manager of engineering and maintenance, production manager and operations manager. He spent his last 10 years before retirement from Alcan as manager of environment, safety and special projects. This broad assignment took him to 25 countries, and across the United States, doing follow-up and investigation on serious safety issues, as well as remediation and investigation of major environmental problems and audits. He wife was able to join him on many of these trips and very much enjoyed visiting the different countries.
He was a pilot with ratings of private, commercial, instruments, seaplane, as well as time in helicopters and military jet trainers. He had many sports cars over the years and enjoyed autocross racing. He and his wife enjoyed house boating on Tygart Lake for over 20 years, along with his friends DW and Dan. He also enjoyed skeet and target shooting with his friend Bud. He was a SCUBA diver with advanced ratings and very much liked diving. He once descended to the depth of 800 feet in a two-man research submarine. He tried parachuting with his friends Andy and Randy, completed the Pittsburgh Marathon in 1987. He was also an AF&AM member. His many hobbies included stained glass (once participated at a Jackson’s Mill craft show), jewelry, woodworking, beekeeping and auto mechanics.
He and his wife lived at Maple Lake for over 45 years, where he served on the board of directors and, as president, worked on many sewage and water quality committees.
Thanks to Connie, the puppies Brownie, Chloe, Lucy and even Korki were their children.
HILDE K. PESCHEL
Hilde K. Peschel, age 94, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in the company of her two children at Meadowview Manor in Bridgeport.
Mrs. Peschel was born in Geisdorf, Germany, February 7, 1923, and emigrated to the United States in 1958 with her husband, Heinz, and her three children, Heidi, Barbara and Hans, where she resided in Clarksburg.
Hilde was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Clarksburg and participated for many years with the Loyal Order of Moose, 52 Lodge. An avid baker, Mrs. Peschel was predeceased by her husband, Heinz E. Peschel, and daughter, Barbara Cain, and one granddaughter, Christy Law.
Survivors include Heidi Cherry and her husband, Michael of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Hans Peschel of Siler City, NC; along with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
