Saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, Amanda Book arrived in her Father’s house to stay in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 4 2024. The author of her faith has finished it in perfection.
Amanda was born on March 21, 1982 to Francis and Diane Pethtel. The last of three children born to a union forged in respect and care, the five of them enjoyed the love of a family as it was intended to be. Amanda graduated from Bridgeport High School in 2000 before receiving her degree in Visual Communication from the International Academy of Design & Technology in 2005. For the next five years, she worked in the field of her first passion of art and graphic design for Sprint Print of Bridgeport and Morgantown Printing & Binding, respectively. Gloriously saved in the winter of 2009, Christianity took root in Amanda’s heart, soul and mind and she never again looked back into the world. She was united in marriage to her husband, TJ Book on April 17, 2010 and Amanda soon thereafter surrendered to The Lord’s will for her life by becoming a stay-at-home mother and wife, the role in which she would paint her masterpiece.
Amanda’s absolute devotion to her four daughters; Halle, Haven, Harlow and Henna was matchless and only surpassed by her faith in The Lord. Her love for her family was patient and kind, graceful and selfless, as she showed Christ in the physical as He was revealed to her in the spiritual. Amanda taught as she loved, without reservation, in mercy and truth and with an abundance of life. A virtuous woman whose value was far above that of rubies, her children, her husband, her extended family and all of those that she came into contact with are better for knowing her and will remain forever changed by her faithfulness.
Along with her parents, husband and daughters, Amanda is survived by her sister, Melissa and brother-in-law John Paul Gotses, of Fairmont, WV, her brother, Sonny and sister-in-law Jackie Pethtel of Bridgeport, WV, her brother-in-law Bill Webb and wife Julie of Bridgeport, WV her sister-in-law Libby Stonebreaker and husband Donnie of Shinnston, WV, and her mother-in-law Jackie Book of Shinnston, WV. Amanda is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as her dear friend and sister-in-Christ, Sherrie Tichinel.
A special thanks to all of the professionals at WVU Health for their care, consideration and love on Amanda’s behalf.
A celebration of Amanda’s life will be held at her beloved Jewel City Church located at 511 Jewel City Blvd. on Saturday September 7th, wherein her body will lie in state for family view from 11am-12pm followed by a closed casket gathering of family and friends from 12pm-6pm, with a message of memorial by Pastor Robert Shingleton and TJ Book to close. In lieu of flowers, Amanda asks that a faith offering be made to your local in recognition of her passing.
