Annette Minardi Swiger, 59, of Lumberport, passed from this earth on January 15th, 2025, while surrounded by everyone who loved her the most. She walked through the gates of Heaven and into the arms of Jesus after a difficult battle with cancer that she faced the same way she faced everything else in life: with grace.

While in heaven, Annette will be waiting to reunite with her husband of 41 years, Greg; her daughter Holly (Erik) Hustead of Lumberport and their children Sophia, Amelia, and Jude; her daughter Jenna (Trent) Efaw of Bridgeport and their children Ira, Lucy, and Leo; her son Jason of Lumberport; her mother Sandra Riffle of Nutter Fort; her father Sam (Jeanie) Minardi of Stonewood; her brother Sam (Donna) Minardi of Parkersburg; her sister Gina (Robert) Surock of Bridgeport; her brother Pasquale (Alissa) Minardi of Edgewood; and her sister-in-law Cheryl (Dave) Anderson of Nutter Fort; as well as several nieces and nephews, close extended family members, lifelong friends, and her church family at Jewel City.

Annette was a truly exceptional woman who had the ability to make every person she spoke to feel important. Her kindness, her faith in the Lord, and her love for her family were the foundations of her very being. She had a special talent for growing beautiful flowers and was always happiest on a nice, sunny day when she could dig around in her flower beds. Annette was often heard telling people that there was “always a silver lining,” and even in the darkest of life’s storm clouds, she would strive to find it.

The absolute joys of Annette’s life were her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving mother and Nana who taught them all the importance of loving and being there for one another, and her legacy will continue on through the lives of each of them.

Friends and family will be received at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm, Sunday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, January 20, with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiating—not to say goodbye to Annette, but to celebrate the beautiful person that we all knew and loved. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you go out and do something kind for someone. Random acts of kindness were a theme in Annette’s life, and she was always looking for ways to pay blessings forward. The family would like to say a special thank you to the entire team on 6 South at United Hospital Center and to Annette’s therapy team at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com. The Perine Funeral Home is honored to serve the Swiger family.
