Grapevine by Rosalyn Queen
I really do not know if a good journalist would do what I am going to do, but I just love sharing with my readers so here goes. This past week I celebrated my 85th birthday. and what a celebration it was. It started on Wednesday with lunch with my daughters and continued every day thereafter with meals and get togethers. Now it was not the presents or the food, but it was being together and having the opportunity to catch up with everyone. Then there was a visit from two of my dearest childhood friends, who knocked at the door bearing a pizza and doughnuts. We ate, sat on the deck, then finished the evening watching a special television show. Since there are not many of us left, we had a great time remembering our days at East View, Broadway and RW.
Then there was the breakfast with my Godchild. Our conversation covered our families and her special gift to me was a visit to the Health Department for my shots. A special pizza and salad at our favorite spot gave me the opportunity to share special moments with my son, my grandson and my great grandson. The gatherings to eat finished with dinner at my daughter’s which included my granddaughter and my great granddaughter. Just a note, I will have a short reprieve from eating as my brother was coming from Florida but the hurricane has put that on hold for a few days. My belly is full, but my heart is fuller.
Now the second part was. the beautiful cards I received. I am a card person and I cherish each card I got. I keep them on my bed stand and read them over and over. Each time finding something I missed the first time around. The last thing that completed my week was the 350 birthday wishes I received on internet. I have read every one of them, several times. The message means a lot but each person brings back a lot of memories. Some of my neighbors, some of my former colleagues, some of my kids friends and some of my church family. Each one gave me the opportunity to relive wonderful memories. And lastly I did receive gifts, which I love. And the beautiful flowers Brighton my days. Now you know why it took a week to celebrate. I hope if you have the opportunity to use one of the above for someone you will do so. I assure you they will be very happy.
Lastly thank you! my cup runneth over.
Take care and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
