Dale was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, class of 1976, where he excelled at sports, especially baseball. He worked many jobs throughout his life such as factory work at Eagle Glass Plant and Union Carbine. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for several years in Anmoore. Later, he worked as a supervisor at Clarksburg Foodland. He retired from United Hospital Center as a housekeeper and food service worker in 2017.
Dale was an avid Mountaineer and Pittsburgh Pirates fan, rarely missing a game. He enjoyed cooking for his family, with his specialty being home-made chicken noodles. Holly River State Park was his happy place, where he took his family for vacation every summer. In the past few years with his declining health, he spent most days watching his Mountaineers and Bucs, western shows, and enjoying time with his granddaughters Addy and Gracie. Addy Lynn was his best buddy, his sweetie-pea, and his little princess.
Dale’s gentle, loving, and patient soul leaves an everlasting impression and void for all who knew him. While we miss him dearly and mourn his passing, we rejoice that he is now at peace and healed, in the arms of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thank you to WVU Medicine Hospice for all of the care and support these past few weeks.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Saturday February 22nd, from 2:00PM-7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at 7:00PM with Pastor Jeffrey Dytzel officiating. Per Dale’s wishes, he will be cremated
