David James Gifford

David James Gifford, 48, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Ruby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on May 18, 1976 in Sistersville, a son of the late Denver Dale and Mary Ellen Adams Gifford.

David is survived by his loving wife, Cristina Lynn Jones Gifford, whom he married on September 9, 2018.

Also surviving him are his children, Tyler Gifford and his wife Destinee; Tanner Gifford and his fiancé Brielle; Tayler Henderson, all of Fairmont, and their mother, Chandra Henderson; Kirsty Kuhens of Lost Creek; Ashley Smith of Lost Creek; and Katie Kuhens of Shinnston; his beloved grandchildren, Lakelynn Gifford; Braelynn Leanne Gifford; and Jace Bock; his siblings, J.R. Higgins; Beatrice Britton and husband Kevin; Amanda Leggett and husband Jonathon; Jessica Knotts and husband Jamie; Mary Jo Elder and husband William; Debra Posey and husband Scott; Katherine Gifford Huffman and wife Dr. Valerie Huffman; Willard Cutright; Sherri Carr and husband Michael; and Alan Gifford and wife Debbe; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Robin Allman; and his grandparents, Bernard and Phyllis Gifford.

David was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1995 – 1998. David was employed as a field manager with Security America. As a devoted family man, David loved his spending time with his entire family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Lumberport Baptist Church as well as the Warriors in the Field, a charity for disabled veterans. He enjoyed all things outdoors such as riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, camping, and shooting guns. He also spent his time drawing, painting, building model cars and watching wrestling and monster trucks. His family will always remember him dressing as Santa Claus at Christmas time as well as the Easter Bunny. David was a friend to many and will be sorely missed.

Friends will be received at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St. Shinnston, on Tuesday from 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 5th, at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton. Online condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.perinefunerals.com
