Delbert G. Bailey, 83, of Marshville Road, Salem, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Marshville on September 25, 1933, a son of the late Harold G. Bailey and Forrest Lodema (Lacy) Bailey.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle M. (Stewart) Bailey, whom he married June 18, 1960, at the Arlington Baptist Church by Reverend Evans Ash.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Rodney Bailey, Roger Bailey, and Mark Bailey and his wife Amanda; his daughter, Becky Hickman and her husband Don; a grandson, Lee Hickman, and a granddaughter, Heather Hickman, all of Marshville; two sisters, Helen Dennison and her husband Jack, Wolf Summit, Ruth Herrod and her husband Elden, Parkersburg; and a brother, Kenneth Bailey and his wife Elberta, Stonewood; and several nieces and nephews.
Delbert was a graduate of Bristol High School and served in the U.S. Army from April 1954-March 1956. He was the janitor at the United Technical Center from January 1993 until June 2006, retiring after 13 years of service.
He was a longtime member and deacon at the Marshville Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, gardening, antique cars and playing rook with family and friends
