In Loving Memory of Donald Springston

Donald Springston, born in Shinnston, West Virginia to Charles and Faria Pigot Springston, passed away peacefully on November 11th, 2025, at the age of 94.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Ida Mae Starr, and his eldest son, Doug Springston. He is survived by his son David Springston and daughter-in-law Shari Snyder, along with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
A longtime resident of Ravenswood, WV, Don worked as a coal miner at Owings Mine then for Kaiser Aluminum until his retirement. Known for his vitality and love of sport, he continued to play full-court basketball well into his 60s, inspiring younger generations with his energy and spirit.
Don was a proud supporter of the West Virginia Mountaineers and found happiness in the outdoors—whether hunting, fishing, or simply telling stories for the next generation. His warmth, humor, and devotion to family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
