This week’s winners of the Shinnston News and Harrison County Journal’s Athletes of the
Week Award are Lincoln’s Emalee Brown and Nick Kellar.
Cougar softball player Emalee Brown helped her team to a pair of wins last week. Brown
was 3 for 4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs in a victory over East Fairmont. Brown went
2 for 4 with two runs scored in a 7-2 win over Philip Barbour.
Cougar baseball player Nick Kellar was perfect at the plate on a couple of occasions.
Kellar was 5 for 5 with four runs scored and a pair of RBIs in a victory over East Fairmont. Kellar
was 4-4, including a double, with five RBIs and three runs scored in game two of a double-header
at Nitro. It was a loss to Nitro after a decisive game one victory. Kellar impressed in the opener
going 3 for 4 with a home run. He also drove in three runs and scored three more in the win.
