BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Fairmont State tennis team competed in the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament last weekend in Buckhannon. The tournament was shortened due to lightning on Friday and rain on Saturday.
On the men’s side, Elia Barozzi and Seena Saadevandi won a pair of doubles matches. The duo defeated Davis & Elkins 7-5 and West Virginia Wesleyan 6-1. Jasper de Bruijn and Max Phillips teamed up and defeated WVWC 6-2 and Davis & Elkins 6-1. Mohamed El Helaly and Jacob Boone earned a 6-3 win over West Virginia Wesleyan to conclude play.
Maria Fonseca and Hope Backx shined for the women’s team, winning two doubles matches for the Falcons. The doubles team rolled versus Charleston, 6-1 and Davis & Elkins 6-2.
The Fairmont State tennis program will compete at the ITA Atlantic Regional Tournament starting on Thursday (Sept. 14) in Bloomsburg, Pa.
