A new all-suites hotel is opening in Bridgeport this month. The SpringHill Suites Bridgeport Clarksburg by Marriott will celebrate in style with an official Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 9. The 97-suite hotel, located at 97 Platinum Drive, will have free entertainments and refreshments at the event, which is open to the public.
“Our Grand Opening will be a night of inspirational fun,” exclaimed sales manager Kayla Grant, who is coordinating the event along with the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce.
She reported that the all-free event will have an art theme with students of the local Starving Artists group displaying their work. And for the event guests, an artist will be on-site creating caricature portraits, which will be unique take-home souvenirs.
Prize give-aways will be part of the fun – from restaurant gift certificates to Vera Bradley purses.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the ever-popular regional favorite jazz ensemble, the Jenny Wilson Trio. “Everything is local,” Grant said of the event’s offerings.
And what festivity would even be an event without food? Various hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
Event attendees can also check out the new facility by taking tours of the property that evening.
Grant reported they are expecting local dignitaries to be on site for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Owned and managed by Baywood Hotels of Greenbelt, Md., the new hotel boasts 97 suites that are larger than typical hotel rooms.
“We are 100 percent all suites,” Grant noted. Each suite has separate sleeping and living room areas and a wet bar.
“The rooms are bright and modern,” Grant added, and explained the color theme of the hotel indoors is based on hues found outdoors. “We used botanic colors – natural greens and other colors that come from nature – they’re very relaxing.”
Whether guests are traveling for business or leisure, they can experience both comfort and convenience at the hotel with a large array of modern amenities. Complimentary Wi-Fi in the hotel’s lobby and high-speed Internet access in every suite allow guests to be fully plugged-in for any of their communications needs.
The hotel has 575 square feet of meeting space that will accommodate groups up to 40 people.
An indoor heated pool and fitness center are also available, along with three landscaped patios – perfect for maintaining health and beating stress.
There is a full hotel bar that serves wine, beer, liquors and light fare, and a complimentary hot breakfast of various choices … from fruits, bacon and eggs to waffles.
Grant asks for people in the community to come out for their special evening. “Please join us in celebrating our Grand Opening,” she said. “We’re very excited. It’s going to be a big celebration.”
