Glenville, WV – Glenville State University reached a key milestone in the construction of its new campus amphitheater Wednesday, July 2nd, as President Dr. Mark A. Manchin ceremonially set the center stone in place. The amphitheater, which is nearing completion, is set to become a transformative space for student life, campus events, and accessibility at GSU.

Nestled in the heart of Glenville’s scenic campus, the amphitheater is designed not only as a venue for performances and events, but also as a vibrant gathering space for students, faculty, and the broader community. Most notably, the structure will enhance safe, handicap-accessible passage across campus — connecting academic buildings, residential halls, and student services with modern pathways and open-air seating.

“This amphitheater represents more than just brick and stone—it symbolizes connection,” said Dr. Mark A. Manchin. “It will serve as a unifying space where every Glenville State University student can come together, whether for celebration, conversation, or quiet reflection. This is a place where we will build community, foster creativity, and ensure that all students, regardless of mobility, can fully access and enjoy our campus.”

The new amphitheater is expected to open for student use and events in the coming weeks, with a formal dedication planned for early fall.
