The Harrison County athletes in the spotlight this week are the Liberty softball team and Bridgeport’s Jacob Stavrakis.
The Mountaineers picked up their first win of their last season in their last home game of the campaign. The school is set to merge with Robert C. Byrd High School next year. They outlasted Braxton County 26 to 18 to garner the victory this past week.
Indian baseball standout Jacon Stavrakis led his team to a huge win over Class AAA power Fairmont Senior. Stavrakis allowed two runs on two hits in six and two-thirds innings on the mound. He also helped his own cause with an RBI double while scoring a pair of runs in the triumph over the Polar Bears.
