HCSC was represented at the WV Alzheimer’s Advocacy Day event held on January 21, 2026, in Charleston. Advocates from all over the state came together to advocate for HB4474, the Alzheimer’s and other Dementia Task Force Reauthorization.
The event started at the Cultural Center and was coordinated by Ely Osborne, Public Policy Director for the WV Alzheimer’s Chapter. Ryan Kennedy (pictured at the podium), Cabinet Secretary for WV Department of Veterans Assistance and HCSC Board Member, shared his personal story about the impact of Alzheimer’s in his family and the importance of advocacy. Ryan is also the North Central WV Walk to End Alzheimer’s Community Engagement Committee Chair with a focus on Advocacy.
Steve Semenik, Dementia Services Director, was hired after the passage of HB2575 in last year’s session attended the morning session to introduce himself to the attendees.
