HCSC has sent senior Olympians to the WV Senior Games held in Mineral County in
2018, 2019, 2023, and 2024. During the pandemic break (3 years), the games were
suspended. This year, HCSC sent 9 competitors to the 4 day event held June 11-14,
- Lodging and some games were held at Potomac State College. Other venues for
competitions were Keyser Senior Center and Rainbow Lanes Bowling Alley.
2024 HCSC competitors were (L-R): Virginia Harding, Donna Burr, Eddie Burr, Don
Nestor, Linda Maul, Margaret Davis, Diana Christafore, Jane Underwood, and Cliff
Marshall, winner of the Clyde Ackley Sportsmanship Award. The picture was taken
directly after the team arrived home. The HCSC county banner won the trophy for most
creative. Pictures of senior center activities and events were artfully displayed by Donna
Stuart, Board Member, and Beth Fitzgerald, Executive Director. The Olympians were
recognized and honored at the June 27, 2024 HCSC Board Meeting.
HCSC Hosts Tai Chi Instructor Training Workshop

HCSC hosted a two day workshop for Tai Chi Instructor Training on June 22-23, 2024.
Gilmer County Senior Center Director Sallie Mathess sent one of her special cakes
decorated with a Tai Chi image with Instructor Sarah West who was recertifying.
