Co-President Mary Ann Ferris opened the July 17, 2023 Womans Club of Shinnston meeting, welcomed those present and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Wanda F. Ashcraft gave a devotional message and led the group in prayer.
The evening’s speaker was Robert P. (Bobby) Bice III. Bice had many interesting pictures of buildings and sport teams from the high schools located within Shinnston and led the group through the mystery of “when did Shinnston High School actually BECOME Shinnston High School?”
In a short business meeting, Alexis Herndon was presented a scholarship check from the Womans Club, Mary Ann Spadafore gave an update of Club funds and Fall Conference was announced.
First place Arts and Crafts entries to be sent forward to Fall Conference included a photography entry from Mary Ann Spadafore and five first place items from Viviane Spagnuolo in categories of knitting, crochet, sewing, jewelry and recycled item.
The evening’s refreshments included hot dogs, potato salad, beans and three homemade desserts.
Those present, not previously mentioned were Donna Mick and Chad Edwards.
