Introducing the Newest Member of Our Medical Staff: Madeleine Gwinn, DO Joins Shinnston Healthcare

Bridgeport, W.Va. Madeleine Gwinn, DO, joins Shinnston Healthcare in Shinnston, completing a residency at United Hospital Center’s Family Medicine program.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University (WVU), where she majored in athletic training. Dr. Gwinn continued her education at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.

In addition to her degrees, she holds certifications from the Athletic Training Board, Advanced Wilderness Life Support, American Heart Association, Neonatal Resuscitation, and Advanced Life Support of Obstetrics.

Her clinical interests include sports medicine, point-of-care ultrasound, and rural health. Before joining UHC, she worked as clinical athletic trainer at Greenbrier Valley Physical Therapy, Lewisburg. She also served as an athletic training student at WVU, where she helped develop treatment and rehabilitation plans for athletes, and worked as a concussion awareness teaching assistant through WVU.

Dr. Gwinn contributes regularly to medical publications and professional organizations, serving as a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, Wilderness Medical Society, and the West Virginia State Medical Society.

Dr. Gwinn volunteers in the adopt a child Christmas program and school coat drives in Harrison County. She provided courtside sports medicine coverage for athletes at basketball games and participated in the COVID-19 vaccine clinic, both in Greenbrier County; and mentored students one-on-one at the local high school.
