Fairmont State ran away with a 78-62 non-conference victory over Ohio Valley on Saturday afternoon inside Joe Retton Arena, wrapping up the 2016 portion of its home schedule.
With the win, FSU improves to 5-4 on the season. Ohio Valley falls below .500 at 4-5.
The Falcons used a balanced scoring attack in the victory, getting 21 points apiece from Makenzie White and Emily Puskarich. White filled the stat sheet, also adding 12 rebounds, seven steals and six assists. Deidra Combs was the third FSU player to reach double-figures with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Fairmont State forced 27 turnovers on the evening, holding a 39-20 advantage in points off turnovers. The Falcons also had a commanding 23-4 advantage in fast-break points and a 44-36 advantage in the paint. In addition, the Falcons held a 46-32 rebounding advantage.
Ohio Valley was led by Shicole Watts with 18 points and 14 rebounds in the losing effort. Watts went 9-of-13 from the field. Ariel Johnson (13) and Cydney Franklin (10) also reached double-figures for the Fighting Scots.
