Lincoln High School has announced that Kelsey Nicole Cummings and Brandon Weaver have been chosen as The February Students of the Month.
Kelsey Cummings is the daughter of Dustin Cummings of Haywood and Angela Strawser of Mt. Morris, PA. She is the granddaughter of Timothy and Deanna Zirkle and James and Evelyn Cummings all of Haywood.
Over the course of her high school career, Kelsey has maintained a 3.98 GPA and is ranked 13th out of 123 students at Lincoln High School. Kelsey has been on the honor roll each six weeks while in high school. She has received Top Scholar awards for English 10 and Physical Science as well as being inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior. Kelsey has also qualified as a PROMISE Scholar.
Kelsey is a four year member of the soccer team, this year serving as team captain. She is also a member of the Key Club and has helped with numerous service projects with this club, as well as a member of the Tie-Dye Club.
In her spare time Kelsey enjoys fishing and hanging out with her friends, as well as spending time with her family. Her future plans are to attend West Virginia University and study in the pre-veterinary program.
Brandon Weaver is the son of Jeremy and Carrie Weaver of Lumberport. He is the grandson of Anna Dodd, Jim Weaver, and Gary and LaDonna Tucker.
During his four years at Lincoln High School, Brandon has been on the honor roll each six weeks. During his junior year he was inducted into the National Honor Society. Brandon is currently attending Fairmont State University and taking classes at the Caperton Center. He has also qualified as a PROMISE Scholar.
Brandon is a four year member of the Key Club and has participated in numerous service activities with the Key Club. He is also a member of the Fishing Club and Ping Pong Club. Brandon was chosen to attend American Legion Boys State this past summer. He has been elected by his classmates to be on the Sadie Hawkins Court, Prom Court, and Homecoming and Valentine’s Day Courts.
Brandon was a member of the varsity football team this year and was a key player in the team advancing to the playoffs for the second straight year. He was chosen as a member of the 1st Team All Big 10 for football. Brandon also participated on the golf team when he was a sophomore, and is a three year member of the varsity baseball team. He is also a four year member of the wrestling team; during his freshman year he was a Regional Champion in his weight class. Unfortunately, he was unable to continue to wrestle due to a shoulder injury his junior and senior years. Brandon was a big asset to the team with teaching and helping them with wrestling techniques and helping his dad coach the team.
In his spare time Brandon enjoys hunting, playing sports, and spending time with family and friends. He is a member of the Jewel City Church. His future plans are to attend Pierpont Technical College to become a Physical Therapy Assistant.
