CLARKSBURG, W. Va. – On July 27th the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center (LAJVAMC) received a 5-star rating in the Overall Hospital Quality survey released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The CMS uses 5 categories – mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care – to award a quality rating for each hospital. The more stars (out of 5), the better a hospital performed on the available quality measures. This is the first year that the CMS included VA Healthcare facilities, and 67% of Veterans Health Administration hospitals received either a 4 or 5-star rating.
LAJVAMC, located just south of downtown Clarksburg, W. Va., also received a 4-star patient survey rating, which measures the patients’ experience of hospital care, such as provider communication, hospital staff responsiveness, and cleanliness and quietness of the hospital’s environment.
“Whenever a Veteran entrusts us with their care, they deserve to know that they’re getting the very best,” said VA Secretary Denis McDonough. “That’s what we strive for in every hospital across the nation, and we will never settle for anything less.”
