Nellie Jane Seamon Hamrick, 88, of Shinnston, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport following a brief illness. She was born in Shinnston, December 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Louie and Amelia Felosa Seamon.
On September 7, 1957, she married her husband of 66 years, Franklin D. Hamrick, whom she leaves behind. Also surviving are one son, Stephen Anthony Hamrick and his wife Lesa, of Shinnston; a daughter-in-law, Julie Hamrick; her grandchildren, Dusty (Theresa) Hamrick, Clarksburg, Aleta (Tom) Brosius, Clarksburg, Tony (Brittney) Hamrick, GA, and Curtis (Cierra) Hamrick, Shinnston; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alyssa, Morgan, Conor, Anna, and Kylie; and several nieces and nephews.
Nellie was also preceded in death by one son, Franklin Daniel Hamrick; five brothers, Frank Seamon and his wife Mary, Rolland Seamon and his wife Florine, Levio Seamon and his wife Mary, Dominick Seamon and his wife Sara, Carl Seamon and his wife Barbara; four sisters, Janie Marra and her husband John, Mary Marra and her husband Bill, Lona Oliverio and her husband Bob, and Stella Nardelli and her husband Joe. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Nellie was a member of the Ivy Rebekah Lodge #112 and the Independent Order of the Oddfellows #263, Adamston, and was very active in her membership. She was an avid bingo player and made many friends throughout the years there. She was famous for “Nunny’s Meatballs” and made them for many people in the community over the years. Nellie also enjoyed dirt track racing. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm, Monday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, July 9th with Rev. Fr. Deepu Joseph M.C.B.S. as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com.
