Shinnston’s Ferguson Park has a new addition, thanks to a Bridgeport company.
Vintage Theatre Company, who performs the city’s “Theatre in the Park” series, has donated the money to acquire a scoreboard for use by the Shinnston Soccer Association. The scoreboard will be used primarily when the league holds youth soccer tournaments at the Park.
Vintage Theatre founder Jason Young jumped at the opportunity to give back to the community.
“Shinnston has been great to us and really helped our company grow. The audiences and community members have always treated us well. We at Vintage are very proud of our relationship with the city of Shinnston and we’re thrilled to be able to give a little something in return.”
The company has also sponsored teams in the United Way Charity Bocce Tournament.
State Electric in Clarksburg also made a donation. They gave the city over 20 bulbs to replace the ones that had burned out or been broken. Shinnston Public Works and Utilities employee Mike Barbina performed some restoration work on the board before mounting it.
