Ruth Marie Tackett Howard

Ruth Marie Tackett Howard, 96, of Fairmont and formally of Wallace, passed away on October 25, 2025. She was born in Mill Creek, WV on December 7, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles James and Hazel Mae (Currence) Tackett.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Eileen Hayhurst of Wallace and her son Michael Howard of Fairmont; grandchildren: Brian Winans (Paula) of Shinnston and David Hayhurst of Wallace; grandson-in-law: Billy Wright; great grandchildren: Ryan Howard, Anthony Winans, Billy Wright (Ariana), Marie Haught (Jimmy), Allison Winans, Andrea Fedio, Chaz Hayhurst, Logan Hayhurst and Kailey Greynolds; eight great-great grandchildren; and her only living sibling, Irene Phillips (Bill).

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, G. Vane Howard; daughter, Maxine Winans Swiger; grandchildren: Holly Howard Greynolds, Charles Junior Hayhurst, and Donna Wright; sons-in-law: Charles L. Hayhurst and Kenneth Swiger; an infant great-great grandbaby; siblings and their spouses: Liny Taylor (Wilson), Tiny Croston (Bill), Mary Herron (Paul) aka Jim, Kathleen Pingley (Emery), Bonnie Rhodes , Lonnie Tackett aka Buddy, Frank Tackett, and two infant siblings.

Ruth was a homemaker and was a member of the Wallace Pentecostal Church of God. She also attended the Tri City Church of God in Fairmont.

Our family would like to extend a special thank you to WVU Hospice, WV Caring and St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home for the exceptional care of our mother, grandmother, sister.

Friends will be received at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike Street Shinnston, on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 2-8 pm and again on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 10 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Wallace Lions Club Cemetery. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.PerineFunerals.com. The Perine Funeral Home is honored to serve the Howard Family.
