Best Virginia is coming off their best effort in the TBT. the squad had a great mix of players that had incredible talent. However, the secret to the team’s success was its coaching staff composed of three terrific coaches that all have ties to the area, two of them from Harrison County.
Head Coach Jarrod West had just wrapped up a stellar career at Notre Dame High School where he led the Fighting Irish to a state championship in 2017. West took an assistant coaching position for the Glenville State women’s basketball program.
Ron Everhart was an assistant from Fairmont and was the veteran on the coaching staff. Everhart, (age 67) most recently has been an assistant at West Virginia University. He brought a quiet competitiveness to the coaching staff.
Donald Kummer from Bridgeport is a current assistant for the Fairmont State men’s basketball team. Kummer has a love for the game that is unmatched. During the 2022-23 season, he was an assistant for both the men’s and women’s teams at Fairmont State. Pulling double-duty is no easy task, but it was a golden opportunity.
Three coaches that just wanted to do one thing – win. They came together for a common goal and sacrificed their own egos to make Best Virginia that team it was, three coaches that made North Central West Virginia proud!
