Memorial Day weekend has become the ‘unofficial’ opening of summer! Lots of people celebrate with a family picnic; some stores offer big sales; some communities have parades and fireworks … but Shinnston is hoping that families will turn out to celebrate the grand opening of the City Pool at Ferguson Memorial Park.
Lots of things have been planned to enhance the day this Saturday, May 25th. The pool will open at noon and activities will continue until 7 p.m. (weather permitting!). A cannon ball contest, some relays and more are some of the activities planned. Also, free pool noodles will be given to the first 50 guests who arrive.
The Shinnston Police Department will be on hand to ‘meet and greet’ those in attendance. Take this opportunity to let those who serve the community introduce themselves to you!
At 6 p.m. a “special character” will show up to meet and greet the kids. It’s a surprise, but it’s sure to bring some unexpected smiles for the children.
Hot dogs, sno cones and more will be available – all provided by Jungle Junction Daycare – and they will benefit from the sales of these items.
PLUS – there will be extra perks for anyone who signs up for a season pool pass or books a pool party that day.
Pool rates this year are:
Day Passes – Children 3-11 years, $4; Adults, $5; and Seniors (ages 55+), $4.
Individual Season Passes – Children 3-11, $90; Adults, $95.
Family Season Passes – $150 for two people; $15 extra for each additional person in the family.
For those who are curious about pool party rates, a 2-hour party with up to 75 guests is $150; a three-hour party with up to 75 guests is $200. If you intend to have more than 75 guests, please add $20 for the addition of each 35 guests. There is also an additional charge of $50 for use of the slide.
A $50 deposit is required at the time of party booking.
Bring the family and come and enjoy a day at the park to welcome the summer season. Hopefully the weather will be suitable for a “big splash”!
